Rosemary, index wasnt show just a big padlock picture telling me to sign up now! I dont know what happened to the other siblings. The youngest,Alice was with him in Dorset in 1901. Eldest got married in 1902 then vanished. the others I cant trace except obviously my Gran. I suppose they were all too poor to take in the young ones. George from Solihull has posted some sites for kids transported to Canada right up to the 1970s I will give them a try. Sorry you wait so long for an answer,Im a two finger typist! Sylvia. |

Sylvia, What was the name of the index you couldn't access? I can take a look. What happened to the rest of his siblings? Rose |

I don't see what you are referring to either... There are periodical/newspaper entries, but they are not ''proper'' entries. There's also something in the Directories & Membership Lists, but again, they're not ''proper'' entries. |

There are a few records coming up for George Commer in the US but all born much earlier. Rose |

HI< Iam looking for my grandmothers brother. George Herbert Commer b.Holborn Middx. 1890. When I put in an exact search on ancestry I get 2 results. One his birth , the other indicating an american or canadian connection. He actually appears on 1901 census but with middle name mistranscribed. No marriage or death records anywhere in thiscountry,By then he was an orphan and taken in by a woman in Dorset. I am paying nearly £70 to ancestry for the UK site so cannot afford the overseas one as well. So I wondered if anyone who has access to it could have a look for me. Sorry this is so longwinded. Sylvia. Many thanks. |
