Yes it is:) Its basically Ja's but cut short, dropping the '.

Jas wouldn't have been what the person was called, it's just a quicker way of writing James, like using Wm. for William. Kath. x

Daniel, I have various Jas.' on my tree, all of them Christened James. :-)
