There are many tracing their convict or free settler ancesters here. Many that started out from Botony Bay (Sydney) were placed with settlers in others areas, often around the Hawksbury / Windsor area and after being pardoned were allocated a small acreage. What family names are you researching. Linda |

If descendents come out to australia im not saying all of them come out but the main places to start looking would be Tasmania= Convicts, New South Wales,= Sydney, Melbourne= Victoria. There are alot of us here in Australia doing research and use these boards quiet a bit. Do a post with what your after and some one will certainly help with some look ups. Nellie |

Dorothy, I've just really got started on this message board in the last couple of weeks. I'm in Australia and most of my lot came out in the early to mid 1800s. There does seem to be a lot, however, just remember if you are in UK there is betwenn 9 to 11 hour difference so we are asleep when UK is awake so check further back through message boards. What are you looking for? I've found everyone so helpful. |
