If you find a batch number on IGI for parents, are all the children on that batch number siblings? I had to ask , even at the risk of been thought ' thick '. Eileen

not necessarily Go back to the search page and put the batch number in, and well as the parents names & hopefully it will give the names of their children in those years. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb(.)com/~hughwallis/index.htm has the list of batch numbers (remember to remove brackets)

It would depend how common the surname was in the area. For example, there could be several William and Elizabeth Browns who were having children in any area at one time but there would probably only be one Septimus and Kezia Shufflebottom. It's sometimes worth looking for the fathers baptism, see if there was just one born in the area around that time or several. also check out marriages in the local parishes.

Did you know you can search IGI with just parents names, without the Parish (batch No)? This can sometimes show siblings who were baptised locally but in a different Parish. Try entering full fathers name and mothers first name and narrow it down by putting in the county. I think you can put a date for this search too.
