sorry to be a pain again 1851 census James Proud abt 1815 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Son Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Jane Proud abt 1846 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Daughter Walsall Foreign Staffordshire John Proud abt 1794 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Head Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Lousa Proud abt 1838 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Daughter Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Mary Proud abt 1819 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Daughter-in-law Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Phebay Proud abt 1840 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Daughter Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Samuel Proud abt 1850 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Son Walsall Foreign Staffordshire my rellies, 35 year age gap between eldest and youngest child, have checked original image and it isn't mistranscribed wondered why there is no mom when Samuel is only 3 months old, so looked for death only death round that time for Proud is Mary Proud 1850 (walsall) found a marriage on IGI JOHN PROUD Male Family -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event(s): Birth: Christening: Death: Burial: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marriages: Spouse: MARY BARBER Family Marriage: 13 MAR 1815 Sedgley, Stafford, England -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Messages: Extracted marriage record for locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the marriage date. but that doesn't explain the big age gap, am assuming I need to look for another marriage somewhere in between and death of another wife? Thanks Linda x |

hi Linda, the most likely reason would be that the father had married twice. The 2nd wife could quite easily have had the same forename as the first wife. It might pay you to look and see if this is the case. Lynda |

Hi Linda, I looked at the image and it might be that the other children are the children of the heads son, James and his wife Mary. 1871 Mary is a Widow with Samuel down as her son. An 1841 look up might shed some light on who the parents of the other children are. 1871. Mistranscribed, Image says Proud. James Devney abt 1847 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Boarder Walsall Staffordshire James Prond abt 1856 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Son Walsall Staffordshire Joseph Prond abt 1860 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Son Walsall Staffordshire .................>Mary Prond abt 1820 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Head Walsall Staffordshire Mary Prond abt 1853 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Daughter Walsall Staffordshire ..................>Samuel Prond abt 1851 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Son Walsall Staffordshire |

Hi all, and thank you so much. I'm always grateful for the help people give freely on here. So from your replies I am assuming John born 1794 is James 1815 father? thus making Phoebe Johns grandaughter? Im unable to find phoebes birth but have found her sister Jane 1846 so will send for that cert to find parents. I hope you are all right, have to think of Samuel at 3 months old with no mommy :( |
