I've found the parish record (I think it is, I used the microfiche reader at the library) for the marriage of my ggg-grandparents. It puts the ages as 'Full age' and only gives the brides' father's name, not the grooms' father. Does anyone know if the actual marriage cert from the GRO would hold only the same info as this, or would give the groom's father and the ages please? |

What date was the marriage? depending if it was after 1837 you will get loads of info but if it is before your best bet is to look on LDS site |

It was 1859. Checked LDS and only gives their details, not parentage.... |

The missing father's name from the grooms entry could have been because he was illegitimate. Full age just means over 21. The certificate from the GRO should have the same information but you can always send for it to be on the safe side. Cheers, Horatia |

I would say the GRO cert is 99.999% likely to have the same info :o(( Merry |

I should have thought that, if there is a difference, the GRO cert is likely to have less info and not more - and may even (as in my very own, modern-ish, case) be mistranscribed! The Parish Register is the source document for the GRO info. Christine |

Fully agree with previous posts - Parish register & register held at local registry office are identical (you sign both when you marry) The local registrar copies out all entries and sends them to the GRO, so if you want original signatures, you should use PR or local office (if they photocopy) rather than GRO, who photocopy a copied return.
