Hi Emily Given Liz's information above I would have a look at the BMD marriage Index for 1924 - 1927 for Hardwick/Walker Marriages and the Bith Index for the same period for Hardwick Births to Walker mothers. You at least then can built up some theoretical connections. But as Liz quite rightly points out a Marriage or Birth Cert would be you best way of 'jumping' into 1901. (and as Esta says these are quite common names, so a Cert is your only certain route) HTH ... Paul |

.......At the very least you would have to buy the MC - this would give you the fathers names and you could possibly trace the families on the 1901 census......... If you don't buy any certs you run the very high risk of tracing the wrong people...especially with common names... POSSIBLE BC Name: Esther Walker Year of Registration: 1908 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Hartlepool (1859-1938) County: Co. Durham Volume: 10a Page: 171 (click to see others on page) but you would need to make sure the fathers name matches. |

I am sorry, but until the 1911 census is released in 2012, certificates are the only way to go. You can trawl tthe bmd registers looking for possibilities, but unless you purchase the certs they will remain that - possibilities. Liz |

I have a Reginald Hardwick b c1906 in Bradford, who married Esther Unknown b 1908 in West Hartlepool?(possibly Walker or Charlton). I don't know anything about their families. How do I go about finding things out without getting birth certificates etc..? |
