Hi Once you have the volume and page numbers you need to send off for the certificates to the GRO office. This can be done online. Eileen

i am trying to trace my grandmother,i know she was 18 in 1949,so i have been looking on the gro index with her full names for the years 1930-1932. 2 dorothy margaret phillips have come up 1 born in dudley the other in wolverhampton,i also have just a dorothy born in birmingham. They are ref with volumes and page numbers,what do they mean and how do i look for them? rachael
