Clare, a South African friend has asked if I can trace her family, so I wonder if you could tell me who to contact. |

That's great Clare, I had something similar, had been looking for my grandmother(it's a long story) and only had her name, nothing else. Luckily we share an unusual second name. After contacting one person I have everything back to Scotland and possibly earlier. She was a Grant. Doesn't it make you feel good. I found a whole family. I'm so pleased for you. |

Crikey Clare, that's so fantastic. I really do envy you with that; I've been trying for a couple of years to locate marriage and subsequent birth dets for some of my ancestors in S. Africa. Wow, good for you girl. :-)))) |

For the last couple of weeks i've been trying hard to locate my gg uncle who emigrated to South Africa during the 1920/30's with not much success. However after talking to a fellow gr user who gave me the ref for their death notices & the name of someone who may be able to help me in South Africa, my search began in ernest. Today I have had success the gentleman (for just over £11) has emailed me copies of the death notices for my gg uncle & his wife which show the names of the children. But also more importantly (and I didn't know I was going to get these) copies of 2 wills, a joint one & one made after my gg aunt died. What a bargin!! I m so happy as we knew so little of these relis other than my gg uncle came home once after leaving to celebrate his 75th birthday with a family reunion.....my task now is to see if I can find any surviving relatives we may have in S. Africa.... |
