I've been looking for some births and can't see them, Any tips other than trawling pages & pages of bmd beta on ancestry? How do Merry & Co come up with these so quickly? If anyone has the time they are: Percy Robert Burroughes 1878 in Cley, Norfolk and Charles Samuel Eastaugh 1852 in Metfield, Suffolk Can't find either of them in the given year on ancestry beta Thanks Sarah :-) |

Name: Percy Robert Burroughes Year of Registration: 1877 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Erpingham County: Norfolk Volume: 4b Page: 71 Can't see the other chap ...............so it's obviously not transcribed yet....so it will have to a trawl through the pages........ |

Registration wasn't compulsory until 1875, so the 1850's birth may simply not have been registered If you got the year from a census, remember to subtract one........censuses are taken in the first part of the year, and the age at the time is used to calculate year of birth. A child aged 11 on (say) 1881 would have been born between April 1869 and March 1870. Reg |

Sorry, I can't find the other one either. Free bmd is usually quickest site when trawling' but, of course, not everyone is on here. Dea x p.s. - Hope it's NOT broken wrists!! Dea x |
