Could someone please tell me what this would mean listed as occupation on 1851 Census. 1851 - HO107/1912 Folio 381 Page 23 William Peters (Head) Married Age 54 Shoemaker - Chelsea Pensioner Helston, Cornwall. Obviously I have heard of the Chelsea Pensioners but I’m not sure if this means he was a Chelsea Pensioner or he made shoes for them? He doesn’t appear on the 1861 Census, as the Parish records show his burial on the 20th January 1861 in Helston. And I haven't got access to the 1841 Census to go back. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Vanessa |

It looks to me like he is a shoemaker but also gets an army pension. Kath. x |

Kath, Thanks for the reply, perhaps I should try and find his army records. Vanessa x |
