Does his son have an unusual name then?? I would have thought it more likely you cannot work out who are the right people on the 1901 census, then them not being there!! After all, I imagine you have no idea where abouts in the country they were living in 1901? and George might have been doing a completely different occupation at that date.....that is, if he was even alive then. There are 30+ George Greens aged 40+ with railway occupations on the 1901 census. Are the witnesses to the marriage more Greens?? Merry

The Black Sheep Index website has a reference to a George Green, Railway Porter in Hunslet 1914. Any good?

Thank you Diane and Merry Merry you are correct in your asumption His son does not appear on the 1901 or in GRO, no birth certificate found, his age is given as 24 at marriage, one of the couple was suppose to have put their age up but as both were over 21 it does not make sense James Green

I can't imagine there is........ I take it his son or daughter married in 1921 and said their father was George Green, Railway Porter Dec'd, and that's all the info you have?? Was the person who married in 1920 old enough to be on the 1901 census? Merry
