I want to look up some parish records for Farringdon Berkshire where a lot of ancestors originated. However county borders shifted and I think its now classed as Oxford shire. On most of census records place of birth given as Berks.Should I look at Oxford parishes or Berks? On ancestral villages Farringdon apparently only exists in Oxfordshire. Confused!!! Thanks for any help. Sylvia.

You'll probably need to look at whatever it used to be called, so probably Berkshire. Kath. x

Contact the county records offices for both counties and see who has the parish registers. nell
