I have just acquired a microfiche reader/printer. It is a Bell and Howell ABR 2000, a lot bigger than I was expecting, but that isnt the problem. When it first arrived, I plugged it in, switched on the reader part and everything was fine. Screen lit up and I could read the fiche that I put in it. I then tried the printer side of it. I moved the switch to Printer, pressed the big button. It whirred for a bit, then the front panel started flashing with a P and a 1 alternately. There is paper in the tray, there doesnt seem to be any paper jammed anywhere. Now the screen doesnt light up when I switch it to reader. I have tried switching it off and on again. Is there a reset button somewhere, or have I blown the bulb somehow. Does anybody know anything about these things please

LOL Carol, you sound just like me - can't get more technical than talking about big buttons & flashing lights. I hope some kind person on here can help you (without technospeak) Good luck ! Sarah :-) (ps just reread this - please take it in the spirit I wrote it - big smiles!)

Hi Carol, I'd guess you are right about a paper jam, these devices get paper stuck in all sorts of places. I would unplug it then open all covers looking with a torch into rollers and trays. Secondly I'd take the lamp out and check it. Thirdly I'd ask your feller to fix it. best of luck

Get my fella to fix it? Thats a laugh, its usually me who has to fix his XP and tell him in words of one syllable how to copy and paste.

There was a piece of paper jammed and that was stopping it working. It is ok now, screen lights up and I can read the fiche. Only thing is that nothing is printing on the paper, probably needs toner.
