Ah, freudian slip. I meant Deptford of course. I know that New Cross Hospital is still there. Yes, I'd heard about the floating hospitals - a remarkable example of the Victorians' ability to cope with administrative problems on a massive scale. |

Hi Paul This is the link you need: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/?source=ddmenu_search2 Only one query, though. New Cross, Dartford? I would have thought it was Joyce Green Hospital, or even a floating hospital in the Thames. |

Dartford or Deptford? if it's this one http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/MAB-SEFever/MAB-SEFever.shtml then there's a link to London Metropolitan archives at the bottom of the page. Christine |

My ancestor Louisa Mary Knight was on the 1881 census, at the age of 14, a patient in the Smallpox hospital in New Cross, Dartford. Does anybody know where hospital records would be held and if they are likely to hold anything about Louisa? |
