Parish records but you can try searching the IGI, International Genealogy Index on www.familysearch.org, also some parishes have records online, which area is it?

They usually (but not always) married shortly before the birth of the firs child. If you can locate the eldest child on a census, that should tell you when and where they were born and hopefully the parents will have married in the same place. Have you looked for a marriage on the IGI at www.familysearch.org? Sam x

Thanks for answering so quickly. It is my GGGranfather & GGGrandmothers marriage that i am looking for . Their first son was born 1836 Longham, Dorset so have looked on family seach and have found nothing. The names that i am looking for are John Coward & Sarah Dugdale. Thanks Jayne

Hi Jayne, I couldn't find a match for you on the records held on britishorigins for John Coward and Sarah Dugdale's marriage. The records on here are not complete, for example Boyd's index has just 30% coverage for Dorset, so hopefully you will still find them in the PR's. Good luck and Happy Hunting! Jenny
