Many thanks for looking and for your input. I just forwarded a few pages on the images and saw more X. It would seem that the X signifies that they were not of that county. I hadn't realised that information was required to be logged. So pleased to find those old JONES' that they were visiting. It meant I could confirm they were my 4 X Great grandparents, - daughter Jane married William Peak. Thank you for your help. Gwyn |

Hello They are the only ones born in Gloucestershire the rest on the page are from Herefordshire. Or they could be handicapped in some way. Pam |

I am only guessing but the crosses do not appear to be indications of disability. They look too random to me. Liz |

What is the significance of the X in the end column on the census image? ..Is it just a checking mark? ....Looking at William PEAKE the visitor...... Reference below. |
