Thanks for your comments - Horatia - I didn't give him access. Was just a bit wary the way he asked me to give him access to my tree after some of the stories I have heard on here. |

As you have given him all the info you have on the party he is interested in I would leave it there if it was me!!. Anyone else in your tree is poss irrelevant to his research. For instance I was contacted by a GR member re the second marriage of my paternal grt grt grandfather & HIS second wife had been previously married to one of her rellies. The info was relevant to both our trees But apart from that our trees didnt match in any other way. No need therefore to add anything more for either of us & we certainly didnt need to view trees Shirley |

how do you know it is a name collector and not some innocent newby that knows no better? - i'd be inclined to say that you cannot see a connection and see what comes back |

Hi Tom, If you didn't think there was a connection, why bother showing him your tree? I often just tell the contact about the person they have enquired after. If there was a match they would show more interest. However, some people seem determined to look at your tree even when you have sent them a report from your Family Tree programme just outlining the ONE family they originally enquired after - I always get suspicious about this! Cheers, Horatia |

after importing my gedcom file yesterday I have had loads of people e-mailing me. I've just had one saying he is searching for all info on the ******** family. and asked to look at my tree. I looked at his tree and his are all from Oxfordshire and mine are from Scotland (as far as I can tell - he was in the army). Also none of the names match in either of the trees so I told him all the info I knew about my *******. Who she married - how many children -and parents names (from Scottish death cert.). He asked to see my tree. Should I have given him access to it? |
