Member Since: January 0001 Posts: 0 Send Message	I'm just finishing a biography called A Circle of Sisters by Judith Flanders. Its the story of 4 sisters, one of whom married the Pre-Raphaelite painter, Edward Burne Jones.

Member Since: January 0001 Posts: 0 Send Message	One of the sisters was mother to Rudyard Kipling and another mother to the prime minister Stanley Baldwin. But as well as being a fascinating read about family life in Victorian times, with lots of information about domestic life, it also has useful tips for genealogists. For example, names. Burne Jones only added the Burne to his name in later life. Kipling's sister Alice was called Trix, not short for Beatrice but because he said she was a 'tricksy' baby and the name stuck. Burne Jones was not buried, but chose the newly-fashionable cremation when he died in 1898. So those of us who can't find our ancestor's birth certs, or find them on the census, or find burial records - here are some reasons why!
