Susan, Tuffin is not that unusual. If you do a quick search on this site for the surname, there are 4790 Tuffin's on here. Kath. x |

I'm not sure if it helps but I was working on my stepmother's tree some months ago and she had a number of Tuffins who were from Dorset and went way back to the 1500s. It seems an unusual name and I wonder if yours were from the same area originally. I am pretty sure that someone here on GR was the one who pointed us in the right direction. It might be worthwhile you doing some tree searches. Sue |

There are quite a few William Tuffin's on Ancestry and also quite a few Ellen Hatton's. It would be best to order their marriage certificate (reference given previously) so that you can get their father's names to make it easier to find the right families in 1901 census. Kath. x |

Well, it would be best for you to use the information you have been given re births and apply for a birth certificate from GRO online (£7). This will give the parents names which will take you back before 1901 when you can start to trace them in the census information. |

There is this birth on Ancestry which could possibly be Rose's parents first child, but this would need checking, as no mother's maiden name is given in the index at this time. Name: George William Tuffin Year of Registration: 1909 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Birmingham (1837-1924) County: Warwickshire Volume: 6d Page: 169 Kath. x |

This looks like Rose's parents marriage reference:- Name: George William Tuffin Year of Registration: 1908 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Birmingham (1837-1924) County: Warwickshire Volume: 6d Page: 155 The other person on the page is Ellen Hatton. Kath. x |

Angela what info do you actually want - to find where they are now or for ancestors? If you are looking for living people you can put this message on the Trying to Find Board and do a search through the trees on here. |
