I have Thorbon Elmer in my tree. I have his birth ref in 1851 and he is in the 61 census then he vanishes for all time,no marriage, death or anything. His siblings all use the middle name of Thorbon at some point, except for one brother called George. Then in 1879 there is a death ref for a chap right age and right place of birth called George Thorbon Elmer. Problem is George as far as i can tell was a soldier in Kent in 1881. Running short of cash for certs chasing my Elmer family (there are 4 Georges and 3 Josephs plus 3 Elizabeths and a smattering of Ann entries) How can i find Thorbon,he is driving me silly. Glen

Thanks Elaine,i keep adding to threads today but it's not getting through first time. Elizabeth (wife) died in 1865.George (head) remarried in 1868. He appears in the 71,but the only other one in the 71 so far is William, with his grandparents. The rest i can trace through the 81 onwards, but Thorbon just seems to dissappear totally. Glen

Hi Jess Lucy does appear in the tree, but i hadn't found the one you mention. I'm pretty sure she is a cousin to Martha and Thorbon etc. George (head) is one of eight children. Maybe i should treat this lot as a one name study, but i have never tried that before,so i'm stumbling in the dark a little bit. Glen

Not saying this is one of yours but just found it in 1871 Josh Thorpe Elmore abt 1851 Dearham, Norfolk, England Pauper Inmater Lincoln Lincolnshire Name on image is Joseph. Can imagine Elmore getting confused with Elmer

Certainly Elmer has been transcribed as Elmerr/Ellmer/Elmes and Elmir. The kids seems to disperse to Lancashire as well as stay in Norfolk in 1881,by 1891 they seem to meet up again in Lincoln, and then seem pretty stable, and all within three streets of each other, just Thorbon to crack, and find the rest in the 71. But really Thorbon is my brickwall at the moment. Glen
