I have the birth ref: of my step father b. may 1912 Watford herts and it gives the maiden name of his mother... 'Godhard' ..... What I want is a Godhard/Goddard marrying a LEACH, Watford, Herts. I cant find it! (Yes I'm trying to cut corners by not sending for his birth cert.) I found an Ada Evelyn Goddard marriage in 1910, Watford 3a 1266 but theres NO partner! Is this gonna cost me £7 or £14? Please help the poor in Stevenage.... Gerri x

Merry Report 11 Apr 2006 22:56

When I did exactly that and found a suitable marriage and attributed it to the parents of the child, I was well happy, until I discovered the father (groom at the marriage) had died several years before the birth of his child!! So be very careful!!!! Merry

Don't forget that if Miss Godhard married somebody else before she married Mr. Leach, then she would be listed under her previous married name for the second marriage. But let's hope you find a Leach entry to match the Goddard one! But anyway, as Merry says, yes, you do have to be careful about cutting corners. For instance, perhaps two Leach brothers married two Goddard sisters? Kate.

Yes, that reminds me, of course! You could buy some credits on Family Relatives and do their super marriage search for a Leach marrying a Godhard. I have never tried this myself, so I don't know whether it will work, especially without first names. Any Family Rellies experts? Kate.
