Earlier today I was elated to find a rellie who was not called James, Joseph or James. However my elation did not last long after losing him in the 1901 census. The surname was Oakes so I eliminated all the usual mistakes...Oaks, Dakes, Oats After reading a tip on here I searched with just the christian name as it wasn't too common... Found him! He was listed as Cakes! Never thought of that one, although after viewing the census it is easy to see how it was mistranscribed. As Oakes is my surname I have just told the kids I am changing their names to ; Chocolate Fairy Tea & I think I will be Angel |
