I have exported my Genes tree to Gedcom and installed my Family Historian tree.............so far so good, everything xxx When I download my tree from Gedcom, will it go onto my computer and be stored, OR do I need to keep the family historian CD disk in and download onto this?? Lin

Not sure I understand, but you can store your Gedcom file on your hard disk separately from any family tree software. I have my GR tree on this site, my paf tree AND a GEDCOM file, as well as backups on discs. nell

Lin, although I am not an expert on computers I presume that the disk you are talking about is the disk you used to install Family Historian? In which case I wouldn't have thought it would be a good idea to try to write to that disk! But you can certainly back the tree up onto a different CD or floppy. Kate.

Yes Kate thankyou, didn't explain myself very well at the end there did I lol? I will use a back up disk later. I know the F Hist disk is just for downloading programme. Lin
