I have been looking through the MOD website and it gives details about how to apply for copies of deceased servicemens records...I only know my grandfather's full name, dob and the regiment he served in (WW2), no service number, no dates of service etc. Has anybody ordered records from them, if so did you have to give full service details or did you obtain records with the sort of information I have. Also, the MOD site refers to payment being necessary if requests are for family history purposes...any idea how much? |

That sounds excellent Barry, can I ask what records the information consisted of? And this was to the address in Glasgow on the MOD Veterans Agency site? |

I applied for my uncles records. You will need a copy of his birth cert & the cost is £30. Send for an info pack, this consists of a kinship form to prove who you are etc. They do quote a 6-8 month wait but mine were back in 3 weeks. I did not get as much info as the previous poster but i did get a photo. I think it can vary what info you get. |
