Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to search for an address on the 1881 census and how to do it please. I am looking for Hackney Rd, Shoreditch, I think it is in St. Leonards Parish. Thanks Marie. |

Well, there should be, but unfortunately the 1881 census search on ancestry hasn't been working properly for a week or two. People have sent in complaints about it but ancestry haven't fixed it yet. Do you know the names of the people you are looking for? Maybe we can find them that way. Kate. |

Hi Kate, Thanks for reply. I am looking for my 3rd gt grandfather James Longhurst b: 1807 Shoreditch and wife Hannah. I have found his children and they are not with them. I also found a death 1887 aged 80 which is quite possible but havent the cert, so he should be somewhere in 1881. He was a zinc worker(manufacturer}. Many thanks Marie |

Only one I can see that MIGHT be them..... E. Longhurst abt 1808 London, London, Middlesex, England Head Bethnal Green London H. Longhurst abt 1812 London, London, Middlesex, England Wife Bethnal Green London The image isn't an E (when checked against other entries) but then again it doesn't look like a J either....Maybe someone else can read it. 'E' is a labourer. Chris |
