As you know name, rank & number, you may be able to find out which camp he was in by contacting the Veterans' Agency, but that would be all they could give you. Jay

Hello John, I tried the International Red Cross in Geneva and just told a litlle white lie. They sent back a letter with all the camps my great uncle was in . I think it took about a month to get a reply.

We are trying to get the army record for my father's cousin who died in a Jap PoW camp as part of our research into the family. We have his name rank and sserial number so it should be fairly easy. The army responded that they will not give information other than to someone who is next of kin due to the Human Rights Act. Anyone know if this is a hard and fast rule given that he has been dead for 60+ years?
