Mo in London Report 11 Apr 2006 15:02

1901 census says St Luke, London, England Free BMD says Name: Beatrice Shead Year of Registration: 1885 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: St George Hanover Square County: London, Surrey WOuld St George Hanover Square be in St luke's Parish?? I am also puzzled by this as she is the same age as another Shead in the family Name: Lily Selina Shead Year of Registration: 1885 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Islington County: Greater London, London, Middlesex Volume: 1b Page: 418 (click to see others on page) However I think she had a different mother as the dad remarried between the 1891 census and the 1901. There was another sister born in 1901 called Daisy Shead whose mother was Ada (Sargent), the other had the mother Elizabeth. Lily (Tilly) is on the 1891 census but not the 1901. I just want to make sure I send for the right cert. Any help on this one gratefully received.

Maureen ...I wish I could help you - but I have nudged an old thread of mine as I have had trouble with the St Luke / Shoreditch area of London. I had some great advice as to the area when I was looking for a marriage. I have had several births that said St Luke on the census that have been registered in Shoreditch. Esta 'Shoreditch / St Saviours / St Lukes - HELP ??...see below'..This was the title of my thread so you can find it ....I nudged it once.

Maureen, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the St. George Hanover Square Beatrice in 1901: Beatrice Shead abt 1886 Grosvenot Sq, London, England Daughter Warfield Berkshire I have a vague feeling that Grosvenor Square is somewhere posh, anyway! Kate.
