Hi Linda, Just a thought but was wondering if the local library might have pictures? I know the main Manchester library has a catalogue of pictures of various views, monuments, buildings, landmarks and area, as well as shops, markets houses and businesses etc............so possibly could have something or be able to advise you where you might get this info. I just googled 'the standard mower' + leigh There were loads of sites, including one with a picture of the pub. I haven't looked through them all but you will find lots of info. Dea x

Looking on Google, it appears the pub was still there in the 1980's (there's a result about the daughter of the licensee being on telly). Maybe you could send a letter to the pub asking if they have details of past licensee's. Kath. x

Hi i wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction i am looking for information on a pub called 'the standard mower ' in leigh lancashire. one of my rellies was supposed to have been a land lord there. any ideas !! the time would have been around 1895 . name patrick oneill thanks linda x x i have him on all the census but this is the in between years and i have no idea wher or who to ask thanks linda x x
