On the 1881 census I have a family's address as 'Inside entrance - Three Tuns' in All Saints in Poplar. Could this really be a pub doorway ? Any ideas anyone? Fred

I suppose anything is possible Fred :) I know there have been threads on amusing places of residence....Pig stys and others!!! But I wonder if it was possibly a room off a courtyard/stableyard in an old Coaching Inn? Chris

Hi Fred, Just googled Three Nuns,All Saints,Poplar. Probably it was mistranscribed. Lots of different sites came up which would be more of what you are looking for. Hope it helps. Trish

You got me curious now, on Gendocs. Victorian London Streets, there is a Three Tun Alley Goulstone St.Whitechapel. Several others too Three Tun Passage. Have a look quite interesting, and of course Three Nun.
