I have been trying to find any record - birth or death - for my mothers sister, but without success. Her name was Dorothy Littlechild.(parents married surname) She was born 1901/1902 and died approximately 1918 - 1920. I have entered all possible spellings of both her christian name and surname, but without success. I have even entered 'baby', 'infant', 'no name', 'new born' and several other descriptions. I have even used her mothers maiden surname(Beedle), but again without any success. My mothers birth and death was found without any difficulty, as was her parents, but her sister ....??? Please has anyone got any suggestions how I can track this one??

Found this record: Littlechilds, Dorothy E Sept Qtr 1902 Risbridge Vol 4a, Pg 897 or this: Littlechild, Dorothy Mar Qtr 1900 Gt Ouseburn, WRY Vol 9a, Pg 85 Rose

Thank you everyone. Dorothy was born either somewhere in London or Hertfordshire. The family lived in either North Mimms or Potters Bar. Sorry to be so vague, but I have very little to go on. I had hopes that Dorothy May could have been the one, but she was not . My grandparents names were Edith & Charles Littlechild.

Edith and Charles were married June Qtr 1901 in Hampstead - London/Middlesex so I would image Dorothy would be born near there unless they moved to Hertfordshire shortly after they married. Rose

This looks likely since your grandmother was called Edith:- Edith Dorothy Littlechild June qtr. 1902, Pancras, 1b, 17 Kath. x

There is also this death:- Edith D. Littlechild, age 15 Sept. 1917, Barnet, 3a, 337 Kath. x

Since you know the parents names you could order the birth certificate for Edith Dorothy giving the parents names as checking points - then you will not be sent the certificate if it's the wrong one. Kath. x
