Hi, I am very new to all of this. This is what I am trying to find out. Jean Mary Caudwell was born 1930 to parents Michael and Edith Maud Caudwell (Maiden name Elliott). I know nothing about her parents and don't know where to start. All I know is that her parents lived at a certain address in Shephards Bush, London in 1930 and her father was a builders labourer. Please any hints/help on where to go from here? with thanks Belinda

Maybe the best way forward ( or back, if you like) would be to buy a copy of the marriage certificate for Michael and Edith Maud. Then you would have at least their fathers' names. .. Do you know if Jean was the eldest child? Knowing this would give you a guide of years to search for the marriage on the GRO index. You will need to be flexible with dates though, as we often find surprises. You can search for free on Ancestry at the moment.

Well thanks for that, Looks like I am on the right wave length although have searched back to 1911 and found no marriage. So not sure where to go from here? You see Jean Mary Caudwell was adopted so have very little to go on. Any more tips would be wonderful regards Belinda

Belinda Have you tried looking with various spellings ie. Caldwell worth A try. Jen

Belinda, Can I suggest that you delete either this thread, or the one on Records, as it will be very confusing for all the people trying to help you if there are two identical threads going on at the same time. Liz
