I'll put the info in a Reply - or no-one will have a chance of understanding! It might be worth sending me a PM if you do find them because they aren't part of my main project (ancestral chart), so I may not be very diligent about checking this thread, but they niggle... WHY can't I find any trace of them after 1881? I don't want any money spent looking for them, but I'd just like to know where they went. |

I've tried looking for likely BMD changes in the FreeBMD database on Ancestry (no batches of deaths) and I've tried looking for CHRISTMASes b in Cornwall in the censuses for 1891 and 1901. That's not to say that someone else wouldn't find them, even though I couldn't, of course! The only things I can think of are: 1] They all went to Scotland or Ireland 2] they all emigrated to USA/Canada/Australia/New Zealand Christine |

We have a Robert Christmas b c1842 London, England in our tree - m. Mary Caroline King and both died here in NSW [12Jul1898 and 31Oct1944 respectively], Australia. We have no info of when the Christmas's arrived. His wife was born here. Not sure if he's related to your mob so perhaps you could try our state library's BDM register for others: http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/ There's also many shipping registers/mariners records online and some info from 'firstfamilies 2001' [through http://pandora.nla.gov.au/tep/10421 or try: http://www.firstfamilies2001.net.au/ which lists names of arrivals in the 1800s] Good luck. rgds, Heather (p.s. - each of the main states in Australia has their own online bdm register spanning different years; the major ports where Aussie 'pioneers' would have landed are Sydney, Melbourne and Perth) |

Thanks, Katarzyna and Heather. I suppose I don't really expect you to find them if I can't - but I can always hope that someone might spot them and let me know. At least, as a set, they have quite interesting names! Thanks for the Australia research tips. I have some relevant links already bookmarked, but the background info and extra URLs are always welcome. Might trigger a new lead! thanks Christine |
