Yes, there should be, but only if the parents went back to the register office and changed the name officially. Kath. x

Kathleen , Sorry to be a bit thick but if he was reg in mothers name and then his name change to the fathers name would it be rereg and would there be a seperate entry on the gro in the fathers name . Cath

If he was registered first in his mother's name and then re-registered in his mother's husbands name, this would account for the alteration to the reference. He is probably registered in both names. Kath. x

Janet , No he wasn,t adopted but he was reg in his mothers name . The strange thing is she married a Brian ? [ don,t want to put surname as its 1970,s ] the same year and his name is Shaun Brian . Cath

I have found on a few that they were crossed out and new number put in after adoption. Might not be the case on this one though.
