My Daddy went to a specialist Deaf school in London which has now closed down and I would love to see some of the records if its possible....... I am still in contact with his friends who also went to this school an i think they would love it too!! Is it possible?

They might have been deposited at the LMA. Janice

Do you know the name of the school - in which case have you tried searching the A2A website to see if anything shows up -

Yeah looked on A2A but nothing much there. I do know the name of the school so is there any other place I can look?

Stating the obvious - but presume you have 'googled' the name of the school ! ?

Our local area has an excellent collection of school records, thanks to the efforts of a single man. School records do contain confidential information. There is no official ruling on this, but the self-imposed cut off date chosen is 75 years. Ask: at the school itself, the local records office for the area and the local studies library. Even if they aren't accessible at the moment, asking may stimulate their preservation.

I was at my local Archive centre and they had various School Records... it all depended on whether or not the school wished to deposit or destroy them. There are two types of record School Log.....shows details of daily running of school and seldom mentions pupils Admission Records..shows parents or person admitting them to school...date of birth.. starting date and date and reason for leaving. I don't know of cut off date but have had access to books refering to the bombing of the school in WW2 and children evacuated to this area from London
