If someone born in 1787 is stated on census as being Chelsea Pensioner (out)............will he have always been a service man, or could he have had another profession at some time? |

My 4x gt grandfather was a potter before he served with the 1st div Kings Dragoon Guards (cavalry). He was injured during duty and was pensioned out (Chelsea Pensioner) his later occupation was a labourer. Linda |

If you search the TNA catalogue on http://www.nationalarchives(.)gov(.)uk/catalogue/search.asp and put in Department code WO 97 you might find details of his discharge which will also show his length of service David |
