I recently bought some credits on stepping stones as som kind persons had done a few 1841 look-ups for me and I felt guilty as I should do it myself!! I have trawled and trawled till my eyes hurt and I felt really quite ill ! There was no index and no search and I had to just trawl through all the pages - most of them VERY poor images. BUT - today, I discovered there is a street index - I wonder if everyone else knows, or everyone else is still 'trawling' like I was. It is very well hidden and I found it by accident - Let me know an I will try to explain where it is. Dea x |

Hello Dea The 1841 censuses are indexed now, but when I first started it was a case of trawling as you suggest. At least now the addresses are easier to find but the images are still sometimes bad for the eyes.....often the images are quite blackened and very poor to read and yet others are as clear as a bell ...as if they had been written yesterday. But thanks for thinking of us anyway, there really are some thoughtful peeps on this site. Kat |
