I have got in a real mess with this new programme that I exported from GR. It doesn`t show relatives on the diagram even though their full details are in the Individuals boxes. It also doesn`t always put first and second wives to the right when I set it to do so. I`ve got loads of saved rubbish now and I feel like giving up on it. Is it possible to export it from GR again and start over. I think what I did wrong was after I did the validation I told it to correct everything and lots of links got broken. I`ve got about 700 relatives on there and wondered if its too many. Kind regards, Jane

Just delete the gedcom file you are using that's got messed up, download your gedcom from Genes again and then re-import it into FH3. FH3 is probably the best program around for reading gedcom files, it's gedcom format exceeds the standard specification for gedcom and I doubt if that's whats caused the errors. Hi Jane I've had Family Historian since last September. The first thing I did after I installed it was to export my tree from GR. When I did this a message came up saying the tree hadn't been trailered properly by GR. I realised what this meant when I opened up the file, information was missing and some relatives were unlinked. Another lady on this board had the same problem exporting her tree from GR and used a different software - so it must be a GR problem. You could try again, however I suspect that the same thing will happen. Even now I'm correcting records that were messed up when exporting from GR. Family Historian is an excellent software package - it produces really professional reports and trees, and the new upgrade has improved it even further. Register for the email mailing list - you're get lots of emails, but its invaluable advice. Rachel

Thanks so much Carol and Rachel - there is hope! In the last couple of hours I had a glass of wine to calm myself down and have managed to go back to the least messed up file and join a lot of the links - its looking better now. At least I know I can re-export the GR file. Yes, I have subscribed to FH3 emailing list. I think it will turn out to be a fantastic programme once I get the hang of things. Thank you both. Kind regards, Jane
