Why no answer to my messages?

We're fairly new to Genes Reunited and we've added my tree and my wife's tree. We've replied to every message sent to us even though there was no family connection but half my messages remain unanswered after 3 weeks. Is this par for the course or do some members just log on once a month or so. It’s particularly disappointing as the unanswered messages were the ones where there was an obvious connection. Any advice welcome.

Sadly this is very common. Often people put their tree on here and then lose interest when they don't get instant results, or can't be bothered. I know its annoying. I guess about half the messages I send aren't answered, which is very frustrating when you think you have a link. On the other hand, its great when people do reply! nell

Don't be put off Roy. I have been doing this since xmas & have had very few connections appear. One person never replied one person replied but was quite rude. one person was really helpful. My hubby has no living relatives(that he knows of) so I was really hoping to find something. I will just keep researching until I do!! Important thing is to have fun along the way and wait for that buzz when you do find something exciting!

Yes Roy, Don't let it get to you, I've learned not to let it.........after the first rejection I got. That was a definate family contact, we even exchanged emails and photos for a short while, but then everything went quiet and its been that way since. You have to develop a thick skin in that sense and like everyone else has said, just enjoy the fun of it, after all that why we start in the first place, that and discovering our past..........if you everntually do get a positive contact that welcomes you that's the real bonus. Good hunting to you and your wife Roy. Lin

Having the same problem, seems like I have found hot matches. But weeks later no reply. It is only polite to answer yes or no, saves a lot of time. Can not understand people who don't check after becoming members.

Me too - it is so annoying when you now there is a connection. PAtience is a virtue...
