I will add that you C O U L D strike lucky !! on the LDS Family Search. One other point that should be mentioned is knowing the religion of the relly. Also, to the best of my knowledge, similar circumstances apply to Scandinavia and much of Europe. France does have a central office in Paris for research BUT you have to give clear reasons as to your relationship prior to starting a search.

Thanks for your reply Joe. I was asking for a friend actually. I don't have any names. He was just wondering if there was anywhere to look. Will send him your advice, Anne.

There are no Euiro websites which are similar to ours. In order to get German and Austrian family histories you should know the town or district where they lived and then you may get to the root of the families. For France similar - you really need to know the town or department where the family lived. What names for Germany and when ?? and do you have an idea of where they came from ?

Are there any websites for researching family history for Germany, Austria and Scandinavia? Have some rellies from these countries. What is the best way to go about it. Anne
