The only sure way is to buy the cert, or birth cert for fist born child. Roy |

Maiden name will be -on the marriage cert -on the marriage entry in the parish register [unless the couple married in a non-C of E place] -on the birth certs of any children of the marriage If you don't want to buy the cert and can't get to the records office/not sure if they married in a C of E church, I think it will be difficult. You could look on www.familysearch.org and see if its there. Marriages after 1851 you can always look for women with first name, using birthplace and year of birth given on later censuses. But the previous census, 1841 would only state whether or not born in county and there is as yet no nationwide index. nell |

Thanks everyone, could not find either wife or hubby on family search and it does not look like they had kids either as I can see them on most of the census. Thanks for all your help. janey |
