After seeing Janes thread about this, thought I'd ask if anyone know how to use family historian to export just part of a tree? I want to send a part of my tree but don't know how..... i can send it whole, but they have no need to see it all........... Shelli

Shelli I'd love to know if this is possible as well, I've too many living people on my Fam Hist tree that I wouldn't want to share with everyone. I hope someone can help. Rachel

Family Historian has a facility called Split Tree Helper. You can read all about how to split your tree in the Help File. Rom www*genealogyprinters*com

Be careful though - make sure you back up your tree first. If I remember rightly, the tree splitter effectively works by deleting certain people. I have a named list set up with all living people in my tree in it. When I 'split' the tree, I delete all people in this named list.

Just type Split Tree into the index in the help section. It does tell you to work on a copy of your file because the split tree works by deleting people out of the file. MAKE A COPY OF YOUR FILE FIRST (IT TELLS YOU HOW) GIVE IT A DIFFERENT NAME AND WORK ON THAT FILE NOT YOUR MASTER. Ron www*genealogyprinters*com
