Thought I would let you all know about a site I found that will start your family tree research off very cheaply. www.findyourfamily.co.uk. Done a great job getting me started. Patsy

** have had a look - to be honest i'm not impressed - they are doing nothing more than anyone else on here could do for you for Free Did you pay them £49?

I've had a look but to be honest, I much prefer looking myself, I'd find myself checking everything they found! That's just a personal opinion though. Glad you found it useful. Rachel

I agree. They don't appear to offer anything there that the wonderful people on here would look up for free (apart from a piece of paper, but I guess if you asked the right people, you could even get that here!)

I see they don't provide a phone number in their contact details, just email address and postal address, so if you pay your money and hear nothing from them you might have trouble chasing them up. The 'one copy of a birth or marriage certificate' bit, well, you can get that for £7, and as for the rest, since back to the mid-1800's is the easy bit of family tree research, it is the bit you really need to do yourself to get some experience so you know how to do the more difficult bits! (And I know everybody will have a tale of how difficult some bit of their recent family history was to trace, but I would be very surprised if the site mentioned will go out of their way to solve a knotty problem anyway for the amount of money they ask. How many hours work even on the minimum wage can you do for £42? (subtracting the £7 for the certificate.) And that's not allowing for overheads....) Kate.
