Hi Lindy Loo I actually googled *Mining records Patrick O'neil* + got quite a few sites ALSO If you google National Mining Records. That gives some very interesting links/sites. Good luck, hope this helps Regards Ann

Hi i am trying to trace my great grandad patrick o'neill born galway c1850. i have found him on all the census from 1881. he married a margaret carney in farnworth , bolton. lancashire in 1872. he was a coal miner then but on the 1881 census he was a rag merchant/ hawker. my dad used to say his grandad was a 'one legged irish rag and bone man ' i am not sure wether he had only one leg or just a bad limp but i presume it was from an accident in the coal mine and that caused him to leave working in the pits and start another job. what i am trying to find out is there anyway i can find out which colliery he worked in , perhaps then i might find a little bit more info on him as i dont know when he came over or if he came over with his family etc.. any ideas anyone it would be a great help. love linda x
