I have got some records of ancestors in the 6th Dragoons from the early 1800s from the National Archives (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk). Do a search for the name and 6th Dragoons. It cost 8 pounds for postage though! |

Inniskilling Dragoons (6th) in India? Can anyone advise me if or how I can find records for the Dragoon Guards? My FIL's Father joined in the north of England possibly Northumberland about 1904, spent time in Ireland and thence to India. Where he left the Army and joined the railways. Family rumour is that he served with Lawrence Oates, who left the Guards to accompany Scott to the Antarctic, and died there. Any advice would be greatfully received. Regards Linda PS I have asked on Records Board but no response so far. |
