The logs will be held at the National Archives in Kew. As a matter of interest my own family tree has Norfolk Ekes.

You can search the National Archives they have the records up until 1929 http://www(.)nationalarchives(.)gov(.)uk/documentsonline/royal-navy-service(.)asp and be able to download the naval record. sharon

Oh, I forgot about the Royal Navy records on National Archives Documents Online after looking for your Thomas Eke before; when I didn't find him I assumed the Adelaide wasn't a Royal Navy ship and I forgot to look for Thomas Norton when you put that name up; so what about this one? Description Name Norton, Thomas Official Number: 281538 Place of Birth: East Dereham, Norfolk Date 07 October 1876 The trouble is you would have to pay the £3.50 to look at his records to find out if he was on the Adelaide. I don't know whether the date given is his date of birth (in which case, he was the same age as Sarah Eke), or date he joined the navy (in which case he wasn't) , but hopefully somebody on here does! Kate.

Just looked on the map - Southburgh and Hingham are just a few miles south of Dereham. So perhaps you should try that Thomas Norton? Kate.

I'm pretty sure that date on the Navy records is his date of birth because I have just found Thomas Norton born East Dereham on the 1901, on a navy ship, age 24, single, and guess what his job was? ..... drum roll..... STOKER! The transcription on Ancestry gives the name of the vessel as the Warspite, but you wouldn't expect him still to be on the same ship 6 years later, would you? (Especially if he was trying not to be tracked down....) Kate.

Hi Kate, Thanks for all your hard work but its not Thomas Norton, downloaded document just now and he's not been on HMS Royal Adelaide! Meryl Does anyone know how I can find the crew list for the HMS Royal Adelaide around 1896? Meryl
