There are some Wills at Kew - you can type the name into the search box on the opening page of The National Archives website. There's also a section on Wills on this site, but GR have buried it. Go to the homepage and scroll down for ages till you get to 'Getting started' (personally if you are getting started I think you need this first, but anyway) then click on it, and then you will find a section on wills. nell |

The national archives have a guide on wills, copy this link into your address bar and it should take you straight there! http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=168 |

Your local archives (record office or local studies at the library) will have the index to wills on microfilm or microfiche,I think they go upto 1950,but I'm not positive. They are for the whole country not just your local area. They give the name, last address and how much the will contents were worth Cheshire have wills online to search,I think they are about £3.50 to order www(.)cheshire(.)gov(.)uk/recoff/ Andrea |
