Hi My great grand mother was an aboriginal and I have tried and tried to get her birth info but to no avail! I susspect she is part of the lost generation! How can I trace back furthur if that is the case? can anyonme help me? She is know as Maud Hancock and married James Bain. Thank you in advance |

Jason do you have their marriage certificate? It should give you her fathers name. What year was she born? They married in 1912 in Wallsend District you can order the marriage cert. online. Georgina. |

Jason, not sure what year you would be talking about and I am not sure in what year Aboriginal births were registered. Perhaps if you contact the registrar of births, deaths and marriages in the State/Territory you think Maud was born in, they would be able to give you more definite information. If Maud was born on a Mission or went to a Mission school, there could well be records held by the Church. Victoria |
