finally got my grandads cert he was registered in sub district St George in the county of Birmingham address is 12 court 8 Cowper (I think) st but where it has description and residence of informant it has Mary Lloyd mother 159 Green Lane Walsall So I am wondering why he was registered in Birmingham,if they lived in Walsall? my assumption is they must have been visiting someone when he was born would that make sense? Thanks Linda

Was his mum married at the time of the birth? if not she could have been sent away to have the baby and went home after claiming it was a cousins baby that she was looking after. If mum was married could her mother have lived in birmingham (or another female relative) and she went home to conviless and give birth?

Parents were married, so assuming she was visiting relatives?

If poss check the census and see where te family are or try to find other siblings and see where they were born. The only other thing I can think off is to look for his father on the electrol rolls but you would probally need to visit a library local to where they were living.

How soon after the birth was the baby registered? Its possible the family moved shortly after the birth. nell

Was 159 Green Lane perhaps her new marital home, but she had gone to her mum's (or another relation) for the confinement?? Merry
