CENSUS QUERY meaning of INFIRM

i have just looked at at a census in the last column of the census it says of the individual 'infirm', does anyone know what this means |

It just means unwell. An infirmary is the old name for a hospital. On a census it would mean someone with a long term and disabling illness. Sue |

It means sickly and weak. The last column in the census is headed 'whether blind, deaf or dumb', but I guess all illnesses that were debilitating were put on there. |

I think the final column is for disabilities of lasting duration, as opposed to illness. Which census is this, as you can usually find out what was what on a specific census. nell |
